Śiva–Arjuna Yuddha and the Subjugation of Pride (Śiva-parīkṣā)
नन्दीश्वर उवाच । इत्येवं पाण्डवस्सोथ पश्चात्तापमवाप सः । पादयोर्निपपाताशु शंकरस्य महाप्रभोः
nandīśvara uvāca | ityevaṃ pāṇḍavassotha paścāttāpamavāpa saḥ | pādayornipapātāśu śaṃkarasya mahāprabhoḥ
难提伊湿伐罗说道:“如此,那位般度之子便充满悔恨,立刻俯伏在大主商羯罗的足下。”
Nandishvara (Nandi)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
It highlights śaraṇāgati (surrender): remorse for wrongdoing becomes spiritually fruitful when it culminates in humble refuge at Śiva’s feet, opening the way for grace.
Falling at Śaṅkara’s feet expresses devotion to Saguna Śiva—the approachable Lord who responds to bhakti; the same attitude is prescribed while worshipping the Śiva-liṅga with reverence and self-offering.
Practice namaskāra and mental prostration (mānasa-pranāma) to Śiva, coupled with sincere repentance and a resolve to live dharmically; this can be supported by japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
