ऋषभचरित्रवर्णनम् (Ṛṣabha-caritra-varṇanam) — “Account of Ṛṣabha’s Sacred Narrative”
चत्वारो ध्यानयोगात्ते गमिष्यन्ति पुरं मम । ततो मुक्ता भविष्यन्ति ज्ञात्वा मां तत्त्वतोऽव्ययम्
catvāro dhyānayogātte gamiṣyanti puraṃ mama | tato muktā bhaviṣyanti jñātvā māṃ tattvato'vyayam
那四位凭借禅观瑜伽的修持,将抵达我的神圣之城。其后,他们将得解脱,因为如实了知我乃不坏不灭的真实本体。
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: General: attainment of Śiva-loka/pura through dhyāna and tattva-jñāna; liberation (mokṣa) by Śiva’s grace.
Role: liberating
Cosmic Event: soteriological ascent to Śiva’s abode (Śiva-loka/pura) culminating in mokṣa
It presents moksha as the fruit of dhyāna-yoga culminating in direct knowledge of Shiva as the imperishable (avyaya) Supreme Reality—liberation arises from true realization, not merely from external merit.
Meditation can begin with Saguna supports such as the Shiva-Linga and Shiva’s form, but its completion is tattva-jñāna—realizing Shiva’s unchanging essence—through which the devotee transcends bondage and attains Shiva’s abode and liberation.
The verse directly emphasizes dhyāna-yoga: steady meditation on Shiva (often supported by japa of the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and contemplation of Shiva’s nature as avyaya) leading to liberating knowledge.
