Protocol of Tapas, Mantra-Japa, and Śiva-Dhyāna
विदग्धभिल्लरूपं हि गणैः सार्ध महाद्भुतम् । तस्य दैत्यस्य नाशार्थं द्रुतं कृत्वा समागतः
vidagdhabhillarūpaṃ hi gaṇaiḥ sārdha mahādbhutam | tasya daityasya nāśārthaṃ drutaṃ kṛtvā samāgataḥ
他化现为奇妙之身,宛如机敏的毗罗(Bhilla,林野猎人),并偕同诸伽那(Gaṇas);为灭除那魔族(代底耶)之故,便迅疾而至。

Significance: Illustrates Śiva’s līlā of disguise (veṣa) and gaṇa-sahita descent to destroy adharma; inspires devotees to trust unseen protection.

It shows Śiva’s compassionate, active grace: he adopts an appropriate saguna form and acts swiftly to remove adharma (the demon), protecting devotees and restoring dharma—an outer event mirroring the inner destruction of ignorance.
While the Liṅga points to Śiva’s transcendent reality, this verse highlights the same Supreme as saguna—taking a specific form and coming with Gaṇas—teaching that Liṅga-worship and devotion to Śiva’s forms are complementary paths to the same Pati (Lord).
A practical takeaway is to seek Śiva’s protection through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and steady bhakti, visualizing the Lord’s swift grace removing inner ‘demonic’ tendencies like anger, pride, and delusion.
