The Account of Śambhu’s Incarnation that Dispels Doubts Concerning Women
या विप्रवनिता पूर्वंतमपुष्णात्स्वपुत्रवत् । सैव माताभवत्तस्य स भ्राता द्विजनन्दनः
yā vipravanitā pūrvaṃtamapuṣṇātsvaputravat | saiva mātābhavattasya sa bhrātā dvijanandanaḥ
那位婆罗门妇人,往昔曾如亲子般抚育他,如今确成了他的母亲;而她所生的那位“再生者”(dvija)青年,也成了他的兄弟,婆罗门中最胜者啊。
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; the verse situates Śiva’s worship as the causal backdrop for Dharmagupta’s royal enjoyment in Vidarbha.
Significance: Frames arādhana of Śiva as yielding both dharmic prosperity (bhoga) and auspicious stability, encouraging devotees to integrate worship with righteous kingship/householder life.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It highlights how dharmic care and selfless nurturing create sacred bonds, suggesting that relationships can be shaped by prior merit (puṇya) and divine ordering, which Shaiva tradition views as operating under the Lord’s governance.
Though not directly about the Liṅga, it supports the Shaiva view that Saguna Shiva oversees worldly order (dharma) and karmic fruition; devotion to Shiva aligns one’s conduct with that divine order.
The implied practice is dharmic living supported by Shiva-bhakti—regular japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and offering service to others as an act of devotion.
