Yatinātha-līlā: Śiva’s Test of the Bhilla Devotees at Arbuda Mountain
भिल्ल उवाच । त्यम्प्रोक्तं त्वया स्वामिञ्शृणु मद्वचनं च ते । अति स्वल्पं स्थलं मे हि स्यान्निवासः कथन्तव
bhilla uvāca | tyamproktaṃ tvayā svāmiñśṛṇu madvacanaṃ ca te | ati svalpaṃ sthalaṃ me hi syānnivāsaḥ kathantava
毕罗说道:“噢,主上,你所说之言我已领会。如今也请聆听我的话。我居处实在狭小——你怎能在那儿安住呢?”
Bhilla
Tattva Level: pashu
It highlights humility (dainya) as a core Shaiva virtue: the devotee feels unworthy and sees his limited means as inadequate, while Shiva’s grace is understood to transcend worldly measures.
The verse reflects Saguna Shiva’s accessibility—Shiva accepts the devotee’s sincere heart rather than external grandeur, a theme consistent with Linga-worship where inner bhakti is primary.
Cultivate humble prayer before worship—offer simple Linga-puja with the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and a mindset of surrender, even if resources are minimal.
