द्विजेश्वरावतारः
The Manifestation of Shiva as Dvijeśvara
हे नाथनाथ हे कान्त हा शम्भो हा जगद्गुरो । इति रोरूयमाणां तां व्याघ्रो जग्रास भीषणः
he nāthanātha he kānta hā śambho hā jagadguro | iti rorūyamāṇāṃ tāṃ vyāghro jagrāsa bhīṣaṇaḥ
她哀号呼喊:“噢,诸主之主!噢,至爱者!哀哉,商婆(Śambhu)!哀哉,世间之师!”——她如此哭号时,那可怖的猛虎攫住并吞噬了她。
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Mantra: हे नाथनाथ हे कान्त हा शम्भो हा जगद्गुरो
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
The verse highlights the intensity of śaraṇāgati (taking refuge) in Śiva as Nāthanātha and Jagadguru, while also reminding that mere crying out without inner transformation and right action may not immediately avert the ripening of prārabdha-karma.
The addressed epithets—Śambhu, Jagadguru, Nāthanātha—are Saguna invocations of Śiva, showing personal devotion to the compassionate Lord who is worshipped through the Liṅga as an accessible form for prayer, surrender, and purification.
A practical takeaway is to cultivate steady bhakti with japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and daily remembrance of Śiva as protector, rather than turning to prayer only in moments of fear.
