The Account of Śiva’s Manifestation as Vaiśyanātha
वेश्योवाच । दिनत्रयमहोरात्रं पत्नी भूत्वा तव प्रभो । सहधर्मं चरामीति सत्यंसत्यं न संशयः
veśyovāca | dinatrayamahorātraṃ patnī bhūtvā tava prabho | sahadharmaṃ carāmīti satyaṃsatyaṃ na saṃśayaḥ
那歌伎说道:“主啊,三日三夜之间,我愿为你的妻,与君同修共行之法(达摩)。此言真实——真实无疑。”
Veśyā (courtesan)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Role: nurturing
It highlights the power of satya (truthful resolve) and dharma: sincere commitment, even from someone socially marginalized, becomes spiritually meaningful when offered with honesty and intention aligned to righteous conduct.
Addressing the Lord as “Prabhu” reflects Saguna devotion—relating to Shiva as a personal, responsive deity. The verse underscores that Shiva values inner truth and dharmic intention, which is central to devotional worship whether one approaches the Linga or Shiva’s personal form.
The direct takeaway is the vow-like discipline of satya and dharma: make a clear resolve and uphold it. Practically, this pairs well with daily Panchakshara japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and a simple vrata (self-restraint) maintained with truthfulness.
