Preparations for Girijā’s Auspicious Journey and the Teaching on Pātivratya
jagadambā maheśī tvaṃ śivassākṣātpatistava | tava smaraṇato nāryo bhavanti hi pativratāḥ
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
The verse praises Pārvatī as Jagadambā and Maheśī, affirming the inseparable Pati–Śakti unity central to Shaiva Siddhānta. Remembering the Goddess refines dharma in household life, cultivating steadiness, purity of intention, and devotion.
It supports Saguna worship by honoring Śiva together with His Śakti: Śiva is the supreme Lord (Pati) and Pārvatī is His divine power and grace. In practical devotion, Linga worship is completed by reverence to the Goddess, reflecting their non-separation.
Smarana (remembrance) of Pārvatī—through japa of her names, paired worship of Śiva-Linga with Śakti, and a daily sankalpa for fidelity and self-restraint. If one follows Shiva Purana practice, this can be supported with Panchakshara japa and simple bhakti-based prayer.
