मेनावरलाभवर्णनम् — Description of Menā’s Attainment of Boons
and the worship leading to Umā’s advent
प्रथमं शतपुत्रा मे भवन्तु जगदम्बिके । बह्वायुषो वीर्यवन्त ऋद्धिसिद्धिसमन्विताः
prathamaṃ śataputrā me bhavantu jagadambike | bahvāyuṣo vīryavanta ṛddhisiddhisamanvitāḥ
“首先,噢诸世界之母,愿我蒙福得一百位儿子——寿命绵长、精力充沛,并具足福祉与灵性成就(悉地)。”

The verse frames “r̥ddhi” (worldly flourishing) and “siddhi” (attainments) as blessings sought through the grace of Jagadambikā, reflecting the Shaiva view that all capacities—life, strength, and accomplishment—ultimately arise from divine anugraha (grace) rather than egoic effort.
It aligns with Saguna worship where devotees approach Śiva and Śakti as compassionate, personal deities who bestow boons. In Linga worship, such petitions are traditionally offered with humility, recognizing that even prosperity and siddhi are to be harmonized with dharma and devotion to Śiva.
A practical takeaway is prayerful petition (vara-yācñā) before Śiva-Parvatī with japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” supported by simple vrata discipline (purity, restraint) so that any “siddhi” sought remains aligned with devotion and right conduct.
