Menā’s Vision of Śiva’s Divine Form
ब्रह्मोवाच । एतस्मिन्नन्तरे त्वं हि विष्णुना प्रेरितो द्रुतम् । अनुकूलयितुं शंभुमयास्तन्निकटे मुने
brahmovāca | etasminnantare tvaṃ hi viṣṇunā prerito drutam | anukūlayituṃ śaṃbhumayāstannikaṭe mune
梵天说道:其间,你在毗湿奴的催促下迅速前往圣主商婆(Śambhu)近前,圣者啊,为求得祂的垂允。
Brahma
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
It highlights that Śiva’s grace is gained through sincere approach and propitiation; even when prompted by other deities, the decisive factor is turning toward Śambhu with devotion to become “anukūla” (favorably disposed) to the seeker.
The verse emphasizes nearing Śambhu personally—an idea mirrored in Liṅga worship, where the devotee approaches Saguna Śiva through a tangible focus (Liṅga) to seek His prasāda and alignment with His will.
The practical takeaway is “approach and propitiate Śiva”: perform Śiva-pūjā or Liṅgārcana with mantra-japa (especially the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) to cultivate Śiva’s favor and inner readiness.
