Role: creative
It teaches that the three cosmic functions—creation, preservation, and dissolution—operate through a threefold manifestation, ultimately rooted in the one supreme Lord (Pati). Recognizing this unity steadies devotion and removes sectarian division, directing the seeker toward liberation.
The verse supports Saguna worship by affirming that the One is approachable through functional forms (Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Hara). In Linga worship, devotees honor the transcendent Śiva while acknowledging His immanent governance of sṛṣṭi-sthiti-laya through these manifestations.
A practical takeaway is to meditate on Śiva as the inner ruler of all three functions while japa-ing the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” offering worship to the Liṅga with the insight that all divine powers converge in Śiva.
