It teaches that sustained contemplation of Shiva’s supreme nature culminates in dhyāna and paramānanda—an inner state where the soul aligns with Pati (Shiva), loosening the bonds of pāśa and ripening spiritual power and auspicious outcomes.
Meditation on Shiva’s ‘parama-svarūpa’ can be approached through Saguna supports like the Śiva-liṅga, which steadies the mind; through such focused worship, devotion matures into deeper absorption where Shiva is realized as the supreme reality behind the form.
The verse points to dhyāna: sit in purity, apply Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) if following Shaiva rites, hold japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), and contemplate Shiva’s supreme nature until the mind becomes absorbed in bliss.
