“若我——身为主宰——也起意欲触他人之身,那么卑微无力之人又有谁能自持不犯?他还有什么不敢做?”
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
Shiva presents himself as the supreme moral exemplar: if the Lord were to sanction desire-driven transgression, ordinary beings would follow without restraint. The verse upholds dharma and inner purity as essential supports for liberation (moksha).
In Saguna worship, the devotee contemplates Shiva not only as powerful but as perfectly self-controlled and dharma-protecting. Linga-worship trains the mind to sublimate impulse into reverence, aligning conduct with the Lord’s purity.
Practice restraint and sublimation through daily Panchakshara japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), wearing vibhuti (Tripundra) as a reminder of purity, and steady meditation to convert desire into devotion.
