The verse uses battle as a mirror of inner sādhanā: disciplined strength, skill, and right application of power. In Shaiva thought, such narratives point to conquering ignorance (pāśa) through steadiness and higher means, rather than mere brute force.
Though the verse is martial, it sits within Rudra-saṃhitā’s Saguna narrative world where Shiva’s cosmic governance is expressed through ordered events. Devotion to Shiva as Pati (Lord) frames all power—astric might included—as effective only when aligned with dharma and Shiva’s will.
A practical takeaway is japa with focus and restraint—especially the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—to cultivate inner strength and mastery, like an expert warrior who uses the right “weapon” (mantra) at the right time.
