It highlights the Shaiva ideal that inner purity is supported by outer discipline—vows (niyama), early rising, and sacred bathing—especially during periods dedicated to tapas, preparing the seeker for Shiva’s grace.
Though the verse describes preparatory observances, such disciplined snāna and vrata commonly precede temple worship and Linga-pūjā, aligning the devotee’s body-mind for focused Saguna Shiva devotion.
Early-morning vrata-based practice: dawn स्नान (ritual bath) with niyama; it may be paired with Shiva japa (e.g., the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and simple purity observances before worship.
