毗诃尼舍啊,我已依你所问,恭敬地向你尽述这一切——即圣对:湿婆与其圣力(Śakti)的荣耀,并将之与他们广为传颂的名德相融而说。
Brahma
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: Śravaṇa (devout listening) of Śiva-Śakti-māhātmya is framed as a direct means of puṇya and inner auspiciousness, preparing the paśu for Śiva’s anugraha.
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
The verse emphasizes śravaṇa (devout hearing) of Śiva–Śakti’s glory as a purifying act: sacred narration offered with ādarā (reverence) becomes a means to deepen bhakti and align the mind toward Śiva, the supreme Pati.
By highlighting ‘yaśaḥ’ (glory) of Śiva along with His Śakti, the verse supports Saguna devotion—approaching Śiva through His celebrated forms, deeds, and compassionate presence, which in practice includes Liṅga worship and remembrance of Śiva’s līlās.
A direct takeaway is regular listening/recitation of Śiva Purāṇa kathā with reverence (ādarāt) as a sādhana; it naturally complements japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and devotional remembrance of Śiva–Śakti.
