सूत उवाच । एवं पुत्रवचः श्रुत्वा तन्माता दुःखसंयुता । निःश्वस्याति तदा धेनुर्वत्सं वचनमब्रवीत्

It highlights the tender dharmic mood of compassion and responsiveness: sorrow is acknowledged, and right speech is offered in response—qualities that purify the heart and prepare it for Shiva-bhakti and grace.
Though not directly naming the Liṅga here, the Purana’s narrative method uses human (and symbolic) emotions to mature devotion; such softened, sattvic awareness becomes fit for Saguna Shiva worship and for receiving the Jyotirlinga-related teachings of the Koṭirudrasaṃhitā.
The implied practice is śravaṇa (devotional listening) and mindful, truthful speech in distress; as a Shaiva takeaway, one may accompany such listening with silent japa of the Pañcākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—to steady the mind.
