Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: Concluding phalaśruti of Atrīśvara-māhātmya: hearing/knowing the kṣetra’s greatness yields bhukti and mukti and strengthens devotion.
Significance: Frames Śiva as both giver of worldly welfare and liberator; the kṣetra-māhātmya functions as a grace-channel for paśu to transcend pāśa.
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
It summarizes the fruit (phala) of hearing the Atrīśvara Māhātmya: it nurtures bhakti toward Pati (Śiva) and leads from bhukti (rightly ordered worldly welfare) toward mukti (liberation), aligning the devotee with Śiva’s grace.
By praising the Māhātmya of Atrīśvara, it affirms Saguna-Śiva worship through the Liṅga as a grace-filled means: devotion ripens through sacred hearing and remembrance, and Śiva grants both life-supporting boons and ultimate release.
The verse highlights śravaṇa (devotional listening) of the Māhātmya as a practice; in Jyotirlinga context this is commonly paired with Liṅga-abhisheka and japa of the Panchākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” to deepen bhakti.
