FAQs

The verse highlights purposeful striving (anveṣaṇa) supported by Dharma: when an obstructive force stands in the way of a righteous aim, divine order enables its removal—symbolically teaching that the seeker’s path clears when aligned with truth and devotion.

Though the verse narrates an episode from the Rama tradition, the Shiva Purana frames such events under Shiva’s governance of Dharma: Saguna Shiva as Lord of grace and order supports the devotee’s righteous undertaking, just as Linga-worship seeks Shiva’s anugraha to overcome inner and outer obstacles.

A practical takeaway is steady japa of the Panchakshara ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") with a dharma-sankalpa (righteous resolve), optionally wearing Rudrākṣa and applying Tripuṇḍra as reminders to act without ego and to remove inner ‘Vālin-like’ pride and obstruction.
