The Manifestation/Origin of the Rāmeśvara Liṅga
अप्यहं तव दासोऽस्मि त्वदधीनश्च सर्वथा । विचार्येति त्वया कार्यः पक्षपातस्सदाशिव
apyahaṃ tava dāso'smi tvadadhīnaśca sarvathā | vicāryeti tvayā kāryaḥ pakṣapātassadāśiva
诚然,我是您的仆从,凡事皆全然依止于您。是故,噢常住吉祥的萨达湿婆,愿您审思之后,唯由您赐下慈恩垂顾。
A devotee/supplicant addressing Lord Shiva (Sadashiva)

Sthala Purana: In the Rāmeśvara-māhātmya setting, the devotee’s total dependence (śaraṇāgati) is presented as the immediate cause for Śiva’s grace; the narrative frame belongs to the sanctity of Rāmeśvara where worship culminates in anugraha.
Significance: Śaraṇāgati and liṅga-sevā here are said to hasten Śiva’s prasāda—removal of pāśa (bondage) and bestowal of auspiciousness (śivānugraha).
Role: liberating
It expresses śaraṇāgati (total surrender): the soul (paśu) admits complete dependence on Sadāśiva (Pati) and seeks His anugraha (liberating grace), which is central to Shaiva Siddhanta.
Addressing “Sadāśiva” frames Shiva as the compassionate, approachable Lord (saguṇa for devotion) who responds to prayer; Linga-worship similarly centers on seeking Shiva’s presence and blessing through humble devotion.
A simple practice is japa with the Panchakshara mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” in a mood of surrender, accompanied by respectful prayer for Shiva’s grace (anugraha); this aligns with bhakti-oriented worship.
