Viśveśvara-māhātmya and the Nirguṇa–Saguṇa Emergence of Śiva (Śakti–Puruṣa/Prakṛti Discourse)
निर्माय प्रेषितं तत्स्वं निर्गुणेन शिवेन च । अंतरिक्षे स्थितं तच्च पुरुषस्य समीपतः
nirmāya preṣitaṃ tatsvaṃ nirguṇena śivena ca | aṃtarikṣe sthitaṃ tacca puruṣasya samīpataḥ
既已造就,那超越诸相、无德性(nirguṇa)的主宰湿婆,遣出自身之显现;它便悬住于虚空之中,靠近那个人。

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Role: creative
Cosmic Event: nirguṇa-to-manifest interface: the attributeless Lord projects a ‘svam’ (own manifestation) that abides in antarīkṣa as a support near Puruṣa
It highlights Śiva’s compassion: though ultimately nirguṇa (beyond qualities), He can project a perceivable manifestation to come near the seeker and guide them toward grace and liberation.
The verse supports the Shaiva understanding that the formless Lord can be approached through a manifest sign (often understood in Kotirudra narratives as a sacred, worship-worthy presence such as the Liṅga/Jyotirliṅga), making devotion and pilgrimage meaningful without denying Śiva’s transcendence.
Meditate on Śiva as both nirguṇa and saguṇa while offering simple upacāras to the Liṅga (water, bilva leaves) and repeating the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” cultivating inner proximity to Śiva like the verse describes.
