ज्योतिर्लिङ्ग-तदुपलिङ्ग-माहात्म्यवर्णनम्
Narration of the Greatness of the Jyotirliṅga and Associated Liṅgas
पाताले चापि वर्तन्ते स्वर्गे चापि तथा भुवि । सर्वत्र पूज्यते शम्भुः सदेवासुरमानुषैः
pātāle cāpi vartante svarge cāpi tathā bhuvi | sarvatra pūjyate śambhuḥ sadevāsuramānuṣaiḥ
在帕塔拉亦然,在天界(斯瓦尔伽)亦然,在人间大地亦复如是。处处皆礼敬商布——天神、阿修罗与人类同样敬拜。
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: Universalization statement: Śambhu’s presence and worship span pātāla, svarga, and bhū-loka, legitimizing liṅga-pūjā across realms and communities (deva/asura/mānuṣa).
Significance: Affirms that Śiva is accessible to all classes of beings; pilgrimage and worship are not restricted by loka or species—bhakti is the common qualification.
Offering: pushpa
It declares Śiva as universally present and universally worship-worthy across all realms, affirming Him as Pati (the Supreme Lord) who transcends divisions of world, species, and status—supporting the Shaiva Siddhanta vision of Śiva’s sovereignty and grace.
Because Śambhu is worshipped “everywhere,” the Linga becomes the accessible, world-transcending emblem of His presence—Saguna worship (form-based devotion) that leads the devotee toward realization of His all-pervading, ultimately transcendent nature.
Adopt daily Śiva-pūjā with the Panchākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and support it with Shaiva marks like Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa as reminders of constant, all-place devotion to Śambhu.
