It emphasizes that Shaiva practice begins with humility (namaskāra), steadiness (being properly seated), and inner–outer purity, preparing the practitioner to approach Pati (Shiva) with disciplined awareness rather than casual intention.
Before Linga-pūjā or any Saguna Shiva worship, one performs preparatory acts (ṛṣyādi-nyāsa and purification) so the body-mind becomes a fit instrument for mantra and offering, aligning the worshipper (paśu) toward Shiva (Pati).
It points to ācamanā/hand purification with water and the preliminary ‘ṛṣyādi’ rites (invoking seers and related nyāsa) as a standard preparation before mantra-japa or pūjā.
