यद्देहभस्मसम्पर्कात्संछिन्नाघव्रजोऽशुचिः । महापिशाचः सम्प्राप्य त्वत्कृपातस्सतां गतिम्

Significance: Affirms bhasma as Śiva’s prasāda that burns pāśa (bondage) and elevates even the fallen to sat-gati through grace.
Role: liberating
The verse proclaims Shiva’s anugraha (saving grace): even an impure being burdened with heavy sin can have bondage cut away and attain an elevated gati when touched by Shiva’s sanctifying bhasma—showing Pati’s supremacy over pāśa and pāpa.
Bhasma is a direct emblem of Saguna Shiva’s presence and compassion; when used with devotion in Linga worship (and worn as Tripundra), it signifies surrender to Shiva, whose grace purifies and leads the devotee toward the state of the righteous.
It points to the Shaiva practice of reverently applying and wearing bhasma (Tripundra) with remembrance of Shiva—ideally alongside japa of the Panchakshara mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya)—as a discipline of purification and devotion.
