Sukta 5.73

Devata

Aśvins (Nā́satyā)

Inside Sukta 73

How it unfolds

  1. Where it opens

A universal summons: wherever the Aśvins are—far, near, or in the mid-world—they are called to come immediately to the worshippers.

  2. Development

Their nature as abundant helpers is unfolded through praise of their swift movement and their readiness to assist across many ‘fields’ of enjoyment and action; the hymn ties their help to inspired recognition by seers.

  3. Climax

The Atri/gharma moment: the seer’s awakened awareness and the flawless warm offering become a vivid emblem of Aśvin grace and rapid fulfilment.

  4. Where it settles

The poet seals the rite by presenting the hymn itself as carefully fashioned, chariot-like speech—an expansive homage meant to bring peace and growth to the Aśvins’ worshippers.

The seer

  • Atri (Ātreya)Ātreya (Atri-gotra) · Atri is a prominent Vedic seer associated with luminous insight and with Aśvin myths (including rescue/help motifs) and with the gharma-related tradition.
