The Slaying of Indrajit
येनशक्रोमहातेजादानवानजत्प्रभुः ।पुरादेवासुरेयुद्धेवीर्यवान् हरिवाहनः ।।।।
yena śakro mahātejā dānavān ajita-prabhuḥ |
purā devāsure yuddhe vīryavān harivāhanaḥ ||
正是凭此同一神兵,昔日大威光的释迦(因陀罗)——不败之主,英勇无比,乘青马之车——在远古天神与阿修罗之战中击败了檀那婆众。
In the past at the war between Devas and Asuras, a mighty and energetic valiant Lord of Devas who had green horses conquered Danavas (with the same sword).
Dharma is linked to cosmic precedent: divine victory over chaos (asuras/dānavas) establishes a moral frame for using sanctioned power to restore order.
The narration authenticates the weapon’s pedigree by recalling Indra’s ancient victory with it, underscoring its proven, dharmic potency.
