Kumbhakarna’s Counsel and War-Boast to Ravana
नैवशक्त्या न गदयानासिनानिशितैश्शरैः ।।6.63.46।।हस्ताभ्यामेवसम्रब्दोहनिष्याम्यपिवज्रिणम् ।
naiva śaktyā na gadayā nāsinā niśitaiḥ śaraiḥ |
hastābhyām eva samrabdho haniṣyāmy api vajriṇam ||
不以矛,不以棍棒,不以剑,亦不以锐箭;我怒起之时,唯以双手也要击倒金刚手(因陀罗)。
"I shall not fight with javelin or mace or sword or sharp arrows. Enraged, alone I can strike down even Indra."
Dharma warns against hubris—claiming power beyond measure and scorning proper conduct; righteous strength is guided by humility and lawful means.
The speaker declares he will fight without conventional weapons and claims he could defeat even Indra, intensifying the mood of impending combat.
Fearlessness and martial intensity are present, but they are portrayed as excessive pride rather than balanced heroism.
