रावणस्यवचःश्रुत्वागुणदोषौविमृश्यच ।पश्चादपिमहाबाहो शत्रून्युधिविजेष्यसि ।।।।
rāvaṇasya vacaḥ śrutvā guṇa-doṣau vimṛśya ca |
paścād api mahābāho śatrūn yudhi vijeṣyasi ||
大臂勇者啊,听过罗波那之言后,当细察其长短得失;唯有如此,你方能在战场上战胜诸敌。
"O Mighty Armed One! You hear from Ravana the advantages and disadvantages and thereafter assess the enemy to conquer."
Dharma here is prudent discernment: one should evaluate merits and faults (guṇa–doṣa) before acting, especially in war where rashness causes adharma and ruin.
Rāvaṇa’s side is preparing for battle; Kumbhakarṇa is being urged to act after considering Rāvaṇa’s words and the situation wisely.
Viveka (discernment) and strategic restraint—victory is linked to thoughtful judgment, not mere strength.
