शरबन्धनविलापः
The Lament under the Net of Arrows
त्वंनित्यंसुविषण्णंमामाश्वासयसिलक्ष्मण ।गतासुर्नाद्यशक्तोऽसिमामार्तमभिभाषितुम् ।।6.49.13।।
tvaṃ nityaṃ suviṣaṇṇaṃ mām āśvāsayasi lakṣmaṇa |
gatāsur nādya śakto 'si mām ārtaṃ abhibhāṣitum || 6.49.13 ||
罗什曼那啊,你常在我忧沉时安慰我;而今你气息已绝,已不能在我痛苦中与我言说。
"You were always comforting me when I was sad. Now however much I am grieved, ceased of life you cannot comfort me."
Dharma is relational care: the righteous life is sustained by mutual support; the verse highlights the ethical beauty of consolation, counsel, and brotherly guardianship.
Rāma addresses the seemingly lifeless Lakṣmaṇa, remembering how Lakṣmaṇa used to console him, and grieving that he cannot do so now.
Lakṣmaṇa’s devoted service and emotional steadiness—he is portrayed as Rāma’s constant support in adversity.
