न तत्र कश्चिदुद्देशो यस्तेन न विनाशितः।यत्र सा जानकी सीता स तेन न विनाशितः।।5.42.17।।
na tatra kaścid uddeśo yas tena na vināśitaḥ | yatra sā jānakī sītā sa tena na vināśitaḥ ||5.42.17||
那里没有一处不被他毁坏;唯独阇那姬悉多所在之处,他没有破坏——只有那一处得以保全。
"It is not clear whether he spared that place for protecting Janakai or he stopped due to exhaustion. What is fatigue for him? It must be to save her that she is spared by him.
Dharma restrains power: even in conflict, the righteous protect the innocent and honor boundaries—Sītā’s vicinity is treated as inviolable.
