Hanuman’s Circuit of Ravana’s Palace and the Crisis of Deliberation
विनाशे बहवो दोषा जीवन् भद्राणि पश्यति।।।।तस्मात्प्राणान् धरिष्यामि ध्रुवो जीवितसङ्गमः।
vināśe bahavo doṣā jīvan bhadrāṇi paśyati |
tasmāt prāṇān dhariṣyāmi dhruvo jīvita-saṅgamaḥ ||
自毁之举过失甚多;唯有活着,方仍可见吉祥之果。故我当持守此命,因为唯对生者而言,与善缘相会才是确然之事。
"If I commit suicide, I will earn numerous sins. By being alive, I can witness auspicious events. Therefore, I will live, for, happiness can come only to the living.
Choosing life to fulfill duty: suicide is portrayed as morally defective, while living preserves the possibility of righteous action and auspicious resolution.
Hanuman turns away from suicidal ideation and reasons himself back into hope and continued effort.
Practical wisdom and courage: he steadies his mind and recommits to action rather than surrendering to despair.
