किमयं कामवृत्तस्ते लुप्तधर्मार्थसङ्ग्रहः।भर्ता भर्तृहिते युक्ते न चैनमवबुद्ध्यसे।।।।
kim ayaṃ kāma-vṛttas te lupta-dharmārtha-saṅgrahaḥ | bhartā bhartṛ-hite yukte na cainam avabuddhyase ||
为何你的夫君沉溺于欲乐,竟放弃了对达摩与阿尔塔的正当追求?你既一心为他着想,为何却不明白这一点?
'O lady, your husband engrossed in sensual pleasures, has lost sight of dharma and artha. Why don't you understand it in the interest of your husband whose well-wisher you are?
Dharma requires governance of kāma: pleasure must not eclipse duty (dharma) and responsible governance/prosperity (artha).
Lakṣmaṇa challenges Tārā regarding Sugrīva’s indulgence and failure to uphold the promised assistance to Rāma.
