Lakshmana’s Wrath and the Summoning of Sugriva
ततश्शुभमतिः प्राज्ञो भ्रातुः प्रियहिते रतः।लक्ष्मणः प्रतिसंरब्धो जगाम भवनं कपेः।।शक्रबाणासनप्रख्यं धनुः कालान्तकोपमः।प्रगृह्य गिरिशृङ्गाभं मन्दरः सानुमानिव।।।।
tataḥ śubha-matiḥ prājño bhrātuḥ priya-hite rataḥ |
lakṣmaṇaḥ pratisaṃrabdho jagāma bhavanaṃ kapeḥ ||
śakra-bāṇāsana-prakhyaṃ dhanuḥ kālānta-kopamaḥ |
pragṛhya giri-śṛṅgābhaṃ mandaraḥ sānumān iva ||
于是,善意而睿智的罗什曼那,专心为兄长之利而行,带着凛然决意,前往猴王的居所。他执起如因陀罗之弓,威怖如末劫之怒,身势高峻如山巅——宛若曼陀罗山连绵的峰岭——向前迈进。
The noble-hearted, benevolent and wise Lakshmana, eager to please Rama, picked up his bow looking like a mountain peak, comparable to the bow of Indra and agitated with the anger of the god of Death entered the mansion of Sugriva which stood like the mountain peak of Mandara.
Dharma sometimes requires firm enforcement: when pledged duty is neglected, righteous authority may act decisively to restore truth and order.
Lakṣmaṇa, acting for Rāma, proceeds to Sugrīva’s residence to demand immediate action on the promise to search for Sītā.
Protective zeal and disciplined loyalty—Lakṣmaṇa’s readiness to act for justice without personal hesitation.
