Vali’s Final Counsel and the Succession Charge
सुखार्हं सुखसंवृद्धं बालमेनमबालिशम्।बाष्पपूर्णमुखं पश्य भूमौ पतितमङ्गदम्।।
sukhārhaṃ sukha-saṃvṛddhaṃ bālam enam abāliśam | bāṣpa-pūrṇa-mukhaṃ paśya bhūmau patitam aṅgadam ||
看那安伽陀——这少年自幼安乐、当得幸福,如今却倒卧尘土,满面泪痕。
'Look at this young Angada fallen on the ground, face flooded with tears. Raised with comfort, he deserves to be kept happy.
Protection of the dependent: dharma requires care for a child who is about to lose his father and security.
Vāli draws Sugrīva’s attention to the grieving Aṅgada as a basis for his request of guardianship.
Karuṇā (compassion): recognizing another’s vulnerability and responding with protective care.
