द्वादशः सर्गः — Rama’s Proof of Power, the First Duel, and the Identification Mark
Kishkindha Kanda, Sarga 12
ततो गिरितटे जातामुत्पाट्य कुसुमाकुलाम्।लक्ष्मणो गजपुष्पीं तां तस्य कण्ठे व्यसर्जयत्4.12.40।।
tato giritaṭe jātām utpāṭya kusumākulām |
lakṣmaṇo gajapuṣpīṃ tāṃ tasya kaṇṭhe vyasarjayat ||
于是,罗什曼那从山坡上采下那枝繁花满缀的象花藤(gajapuṣpī),系在苏格利瓦的颈间。
Then Lakshmana went to the mountain slope, plucked the (creeper with) gajapuspi blossoms and fastened it on the neck of Sugriva.
Dharma is enabled by supportive action: Lakṣmaṇa’s assistance helps ensure that justice is executed accurately in the coming conflict.
Lakṣmaṇa carries out Rāma’s instruction by preparing Sugrīva with a visible identification mark before the duel.
Lakṣmaṇa’s fidelity and efficiency—he acts immediately to assist the dharmic mission.
