城中无人不通六支吠陀学(Vedāṅga),无人无誓戒,无人不以千数布施;亦无人贫困、心神散乱,或受苦恼所逼。
There was no brahmin who was not well versed in the Vedangas or who did not perform religious vows. There was not even one who would not donate in thousands. There was no one distracted or depressed.
Dharma integrates learning, observance, and generosity; when these flourish, social suffering and mental agitation diminish.
The narrator continues listing features of Ayodhyā’s ideal culture: scholarship, vows, large-scale giving, and absence of distress.
Śāstra-knowledge and dāna (giving) as markers of a stable, dharmic community.
