Kausalya’s Benedictions and Protective Rites for Rama
svasti sādhyaś ca viśve ca marutaś ca maharṣayaḥ | svasti dhātā vidhātā ca svasti pūṣā bhago 'ryamā || 2.25.8 || lokapālāś ca te sarve vāsava-pramukhās tathā |
May all gods known as Sadhyas, Visvedevatas, Maruts, great ascetics, the sustainer (Virat Purusha), the preserver of creation (lord Brahma), Sun, Bhaga, Aryama, and all other important guardians of the world headed by Indra bestow their blessings on you!
Dharma is aligned with ṛta (cosmic order): Kausalyā’s blessing invokes deities and seers as guardians of order, implying that righteous conduct draws support from the moral-cosmic framework.
Kausalyā performs a broad benedictory invocation, calling upon multiple divine classes and world-protectors to ensure Rāma’s welfare during exile.
Rāma’s dhārmic legitimacy: the prayer assumes his journey is righteous enough to merit universal protection.
