Coronation Preparations and Sumantra’s Commission
स्वलङ्कृतान् साश्वरथान् सकुञ्जरानमात्य मुख्यांश्च ददर्श वल्लभान्।व्यपोह्य सूतस्सहितान् समन्ततःसमृद्धमन्तःपुरमाविवेश ह।।2.15.48।।
svalaṅkṛtān sāśvarathān sakuñjarān amātya-mukhyāṃś ca dadarśa vallabhān |
vyapohya sūtaḥ sahitān samantataḥ samṛddham antaḥpuram āviveśa ha || 2.15.48 ||
他也看见国王所钟爱的首席大臣们,装饰华美,携马、车与象而来。随后御者穿过四面聚集的人群,进入富丽的内宫。
Important ministers who were dear to the king and well-adorned arrived there on their horses, chariots and elephants. Sumantra finding his way through the crowd of the people who assembled on all sides, entered the glorious private apartment of Rama.
Dharma as orderly governance and protocol: ministers and attendants act within a structured royal system, where rank, duty, and decorum guide movement and access to the inner palace.
As crowds gather, chief ministers arrive in state; Sumantra, the charioteer, threads through the assembly and proceeds into Rāma’s inner quarters.
Sumantra’s diligence and loyalty: he carries out his task efficiently, navigating a dense gathering without disorder.
