पितृवाक्यपालनम्, गयाश्रुति-उपदेशः, भरतस्य राज्यग्रहण-निर्देशः
Rama’s Counsel on Vows, the Gaya Śruti, and Bharata’s Return to Rule
प्रवेक्ष्ये दण्डकारण्यमहमप्यविलम्बयन्।आभ्यान्तु सहितो राजन् वैदेह्या लक्ष्मणेन च।।2.107.16।।
pravekṣye daṇḍakāraṇyam aham apy avilambayan | ābhyāṃ tu sahito rājan vaidehyā lakṣmaṇena ca || 2.107.16 ||
而我也将不再迟延,进入檀陀迦森林——唯与那二人同往:毗提希与罗什曼那,哦大王。
Earlier when our father was to wed your mother, O dear brother, he had promised to your maternal grandfather that he would confer (on her) a kingdom with good revenue.
Dharma as steadfastness: Rama accepts exile promptly, treating the father’s pledged word as a sacred command.
Rama finalizes the division of roles—Bharata to rule, Rama to depart to the forest with Sītā and Lakṣmaṇa.
Rama’s resolve (dṛḍha-niścaya) and readiness to sacrifice comfort for truth.
