Brahmā (Pitāmaha)

FAQs

“Pitāmaha” commonly denotes Brahmā, the grandsire figure in Purāṇic cosmology, here described as acintyātmā (“of inconceivable nature”).

It highlights a structured ritual setting: an established yajñavāṭa (sacrificial enclosure), ṛtvij-s (officiating priests) conducting rites, and sadasya-s (assembly members) overseeing and maintaining the proceedings.

The verse implies that sacred rites require disciplined stewardship—order, protection, and responsible oversight—so that ritual action is performed properly and respectfully.
