The Greatness of Haridvāra
Gaṅgādvāra-māhātmya
Narada (teaching in a Tirtha-Mahatmya context, traditionally within the Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue frame)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It teaches that sacred bathing (snāna) at a recognized tirtha—here Bhīmasthala—when connected to Gaṅgā’s grace, protects a person from durgati (spiritually adverse outcomes) and supports an auspicious destiny.
Bhakti is implied through reliance on Gaṅgādevī’s prasāda (grace): the fruit is not presented as mere mechanics of ritual, but as sanctified by divine favor, encouraging श्रद्धा (faith) and reverence toward the deity embodied in the tirtha.
Ritual application (Kalpa-oriented practice) is highlighted: performing tīrtha-snāna at the proper sacred location is presented as a dharmic act yielding punya and protection from durgati.
