Mohinī’s Speech
Mohinyāḥ Bhāṣaṇam
स्वहस्तेन प्रियां भर्तुर्भार्यां या तु प्रभोजयेत् । सपत्नीं तु सपत्नी हि किंचिदन्नं ददाति च ॥ २ ॥
svahastena priyāṃ bharturbhāryāṃ yā tu prabhojayet | sapatnīṃ tu sapatnī hi kiṃcidannaṃ dadāti ca || 2 ||
那位妻子亲手为丈夫所钟爱的妻子奉上食物,并且自己虽为共妻,也分出少许食物施与另一位共妻——此等行持为人称赞。
Narada (narrating dharma/household conduct within the tirtha-mahatmya context of Uttara-Bhaga)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It elevates annadāna (giving/serving food) and self-restraint as dharmic virtues, teaching that humility and generosity purify domestic life and reduce conflict.
By emphasizing service and giving (seva and dāna) without jealousy, it supports the bhakti ethic of offering one’s actions in a spirit of surrender and goodwill, even in difficult relationships.
No specific Vedanga (like Vyakarana or Jyotisha) is taught directly; the practical takeaway is ritual-ethical conduct centered on annadāna as a meritorious act.
