Adhyaya 89 — The Wrath of Shumbha and Nishumbha and the Fall of Nishumbha
ततः सा चण्डिका क्रुद्धा शूलेनाभिजघान तम् ।
स तदाभिहतो भूमौ मूर्च्छितो निपपात ह ॥
tataḥ sā caṇḍikā kruddhā śūlenābhijaghāna tam / sa tadābhihato bhūmau mūrcchito nipapāta ha
随后,忿怒的旃ḍikā(Caṇḍikā)以三叉戟击刺于他;受此一击,他倒地昏厥,失却知觉。

When adharma persists, decisive correction becomes necessary. The fall into unconsciousness signifies the collapse of the asuric ‘I’ that refuses alignment with truth.

The śūla (trident) is often read as mastery over the three guṇas (sattva-rajas-tamas) or the threefold time. Struck by it, the egoic complex loses its ‘cetanā’ (operative consciousness).
