Adhyaya 41 — Yogic Conduct and the Discipline Leading to Siddhi
अक्रोधो गुरुशुश्रूषा शौचमाहारलाघवम् ।
नित्यस्वाध्याय इत्येते नियमाः पञ्च कीर्तिताः ॥
akrodho guruśuśrūṣā śaucam āhāralāghavam | nityasvādhyāya ity ete niyamāḥ pañca kīrtitāḥ ||
离嗔恚、事奉师长(古鲁)、清净、饮食轻淡、以及每日自修诵习——这五项被宣说为“尼亚玛”(niyama,内律)。

Inner steadiness is built by emotional restraint (akrodha), humility and learning (guruśuśrūṣā), purity (śauca), moderation (lāghava), and continual reflection (svādhyāya).
Ācāra/dharma-yoga instruction; it complements the Purāṇa’s broader teachings rather than serving as cosmological history.
These niyamas refine the ‘instrument’ (antaḥkaraṇa). Especially akrodha and lāghava reduce psychic turbulence, making the mind fit for subtle inquiry and meditation.
