Educational Q&A

The verse frames righteous leadership and disciplined preparation: a king should heed counsel from sages and act with patience, while success in great undertakings (like acquiring divine weapons) is presented as arising from duty-bound effort aligned with divine and ascetic authority.

Vaiśampāyana addresses Yudhiṣṭhira and announces that he will relate very pleasing and important news, asking him to listen along with the assembled sages and Draupadī; the news concerns Arjuna’s quest for celestial weapons and his obtaining the Pāśupata from Śiva.
