अश्वमेधमवाप्रोति कुलं चैव समुद्धरेत् । वहाँ स्नान करनेवाला मनुष्य वाजपेययज्ञका फल पाता है। तदनन्तर ब्रह्मर्षियोंसे सेवित देवकूट-तीर्थमें जाकर स्नान करे। ऐसा करनेवाला पुरुष अश्वमेध-यज्ञका फल पाता और अपने कुलका उद्धार कर देता है || १४१ $ || ततो गच्छेत राजेन्द्र कौशिकस्य मुने्हदम्
aśvamedham avāpnoti kulaṃ caiva samuddharet | tatonantaraṃ brahmarṣibhiḥ sevite devakūṭa-tīrthe gatvā snāyāt | evaṃ kṛtvā puruṣo ’śvamedha-yajñasya phalaṃ prāpnoti sva-kulasya ca samuddhāraṃ karoti || tato gacchet rājendra kauśikasya muneḥ kuṇḍam | yatra kuśika-nandano viśvāmitro munir uttamāṃ siddhiṃ prāptaḥ | vīra bharata-kula-bhūṣaṇa! tasmin tīrthe kauśikī-nadyāḥ taṭe māsam ekaṃ nivased iti ||

घुलस्त्य उवाच
The passage teaches that disciplined pilgrimage—especially bathing at revered tīrthas associated with great sages—can yield the moral and ritual merit likened to major royal sacrifices, and that such merit is understood to benefit not only the individual but also one’s lineage.
Ghūlastya is guiding the king through a sequence of pilgrimage-sites: first a place granting Vājapeya-like merit, then Devakūṭa where bathing yields Aśvamedha-like merit and uplifts the family line, and finally Kauśika’s sacred pond and the Kauśikī riverbank, where one is instructed to stay for a month—highlighting Viśvāmitra’s famed attainment there.
