The verse teaches that reverent pilgrimage to recognized tīrthas, undertaken with faith and discipline, is a dharmic act that yields great puṇya—described here as honor in heaven and merit comparable to major gifts (such as donating a thousand cows).
A speaker addresses a Bharata prince, listing specific pilgrimage sites (Sugandhā, Śatakumbhā, Pañcayajñā, and then Maṇināga) and stating the spiritual rewards gained by visiting them in sequence.
