Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the extreme intensity of martial encounter: when strength and resolve collide without restraint, the struggle becomes so fierce it is poetically likened to fire arising from friction—an image that underscores the formidable, almost superhuman energy of kṣatriya combat.

Two fighters are locked in close combat; the crushing of their arms and the friction of their chests are described so powerfully that sparks, embers, and smoke are said to appear on their bodies, conveying the ferocity of the clash.
