Arjuna’s Himalayan Departure and the Commencement of Severe Tapas

Janamejaya’s Inquiry; Sages Approach Śiva

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights a warrior’s vulnerability when resources fail: courage is tested not only by enemies but by sudden scarcity. Ethically, it underscores preparedness and steadiness of mind when external supports (like weapons) are depleted.

Arjuna (Phālguna) suddenly runs out of arrows. Realizing the depletion in the midst of confrontation, he is gripped by intense fear at being left without missiles.
