The verse highlights steadfastness in intention and the ethical weight of a chosen request: even when offered alternatives and persuaded with many arguments, the petitioner remains fixed on a single boon, implying deliberateness, resolve, and the seriousness of asking and granting.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Karṇa repeatedly tries to dissuade or redirect the brāhmaṇa by speaking in many ways, yet the brāhmaṇa refuses to ask for any different boon and persists with the same demand.
